Building Operator Certification Level I Multifamily course helps facilities staff advance their skills and careers in energy efficient operations of multifamily buildings. Studies show that BOC-credentialed facilities staff can significantly reduce annual utility costs. This course is designed for multifamily facility operators with two or more years of experience in operation and maintenance of multifamily facilities who wish to broaden their knowledge of building systems maintenance. Completion of BOC Level I Multifamily requires a time commitment of 74 hours which includes seven classes, work-site projects, and open-book tests.

Prerequisite courses and other requirements
It is highly recommended that applicants for the training credential have a high school diploma or GED, and must have one of the following:
two or more years of experience working in operations and maintenance of a commercial, industrial or institutional facility,
OR
a minimum of one year of experience working in operations and maintenance of a commercial or institutional facilityANDBOC Fundamentals of Energy Efficient Building Operations certificate or one year of technical college level education in a facilities engineering related program,
OR
two or more years of experience in energy management of facilities with a focus on operations and maintenance.

Successful graduates of our training program earn Training Certificates of Completion (TCOC). Graduates who elect to take the Certification Exam and pass earn the BOC Certification and become a Certified Building Operator (CBO).
