Class C Passenger and School Bus Endorsement Program. This program is designed for individuals seeking to add Passenger or School Bus endorsements to their Class C Commercial Driver License (CDL). The curriculum follows federal training standards as outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations (C.F.R.) and prepares students for safe and compliant operation of passenger-carrying and school bus vehicles. For the Passenger endorsement, instruction aligns with Appendix C to Part 380 of the C.F.R. and includes a minimum of 4 hours of classroom instruction and 10 hours of proficiency development. For the School Bus endorsement, training follows Appendix D to Part 380 and includes a minimum of 20 hours of classroom instruction and 10 hours of proficiency development. Students will gain knowledge in passenger safety, emergency procedures, vehicle inspection, loading and unloading protocols, and defensive driving techniques specific to passenger and school bus operations. Upon successful completion, students will be eligible to take the endorsement-specific written and skills tests required by the Washington State Department of Licensing. Prerequisite courses and other requirements
To be eligible for enrollment in the CDL training program, candidates must complete an enrollment application, have a high school diploma or GED or pass an admissions examination designed to evaluate their ability to complete CDL training, be at least 18 years of age, and be able to read and speak the English language. They must possess a valid driver’s license for their state of residence and a valid Social Security card. Candidates must also demonstrate the physical ability to perform tasks required for employment as a commercial and/or school bus driver, pass a DOT physical examination, and pass a drug screening for commercial drivers.
