Business Technology & Accounting

Perry Technical Institute ETPL
The objective of the Business Technology Accounting (BTA) program is to provide students with a broad base of knowledge and skills for employment in entry-level business, accounting, and office support positions. Students gain an understanding of computers including file maintenance and effective electronic storage practices with a heavy emphasis on mastering Microsoft Office Suite products for reporting and communication. The curriculum reviews business math concepts, 10-key skills, and important business concepts including economics, marketing, entrepreneurship, and human resources, all with a focus on developing analytical skills. The program prepares students to take the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification examination in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. In addition, students are taught the knowledge and skills needed to become certified in QuickBooks, Payroll, and Bookkeeping through the National Association of Certified Public Bookkeepers. The Business Technology Accounting program is 18 months in length (six quarters). The student will earn 116.0 credit hours which are 2,016 clock hours. This training program concludes with an externship off campus or with the completion of a capstone project on campus. The BTA student to instructor ratio is 26:1.
