Worker Retraining Programs

Unemployed and looking for work? Under-employed and need retraining? These programs can help.

Go to a WorkSource Center in your area or contact the Employment Security Department to see if you qualify for the programs below:

  • The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act helps low-income youth, adults and laid off workers. Read about this and other workforce programs here.
  • Training Benefits are extra UI benefits paid to workers who have lost their job and are attending an approved full-time vocational training program.
  • Trade Adjustment Assistance helps eligible workers who have lost a job because of foreign trade.

Worker Retraining, offered by community and technical colleges and some private vocational schools, can help pay tuition, books, fees, and expenses if you lost your job due to economic changes or are receiving Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits.
