The Answers

General Questions                                                                                        back to top

What is Career Bridge?
Career Bridge is a one-stop, searchable database of education and training programs throughout Washington state. It's also home to the state's Eligible Training Provider (ETP) list. Students, career counselors, job seekers and others use Career Bridge to discover:

  • Which programs are ETP-eligible
  • Career planning tools to help decide on a career choice
  • Average earnings and employment outlook for each career choice
  • Hot jobs for the future
  • What education and training is required to get those jobs

Why are some training providers included on the site and others not?
Schools, colleges and other types of training providers have all voluntarily applied to add their education programs to Career Bridge. Apprenticeship programs were added by the Department of Labor and Industries. Training providers can apply to be added at any time.

What types of education and training can be listed on Career Bridge?
Career Bridge is limited to post secondary training providers and programs with a permanent location in Washington state. In addition, programs must be approved by one of the following government bodies: the Washington Student Achievement Council, the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges or the Federal Aviation Administration; or they must be licensed by the Department of Licensing or the Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board. We also list registered apprenticeship programs approved by the Department of Labor and Industries. Training programs that do not meet any of these criteria can be listed if they are approved by their local Workforce Development Council. Online programs can be listed if they meet the above criteria and are offered by a training provider with a location inside Washington state.

How do I apply to add my organization to Career Bridge?
To apply to list your information on Career Bridge, start by registering as a training provider user through the secure Training Provider Portal. Then you can submit an application to add your organization. Once your organization is approved, you can begin adding your programs. You can also apply for ETP-eligibility for one or more of your programs. Applying for ETP-eligibility is optional.

My organization is already on Career Bridge and some information is missing or outdated. Why?
It is the responsibility of each training provider to manage their information on Career Bridge. If you need assistance with updating, please contact us and we will be glad to help.

How do I get started with managing my information on Career Bridge?

I am interested in starting a private vocational school. What should I do?

What is the Eligible Training Provider (ETP) list?
This list includes programs that have been approved to receive federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act funds. Programs on this list must meet specific employment, earnings and completion rate standards. Training providers can apply for ETP-eligibility for their programs through Career Bridge. Learn more.

Can my programs be listed on Career Bridge as ETP-eligible if I'm located outside Washington state?
No. Career Bridge only lists education and training programs with a permanent location in Washington. However, Washington does consider a program as ETP eligible if it is on the Eligible Training Provider List in the state in which it is located if the state has a reciprocal agreement with Washington. Find out which states have reciprocal agreements. To find ETP Lists in other states, go to CareerOneStop.org.

How do I apply for ETP-eligibility for my programs?
Learn more about it on the eligible training provider information page.

How do students apply for ETP-related financial assistance?
Find answers about these programs--Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) tuition assistance, the state's Training Benefits program and Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA)--on the Worker retraining page.
