Program description
Familiarization: Care and proper safe use, nomenclature and selection of tools and materials in the craft. Shop Work: Safe and proper procedures for use of shop equipment including Pipe threader, drill press, sanders, grinders, hand tools, etc. General Maintenance: Proper procedures to trouble shoot, repair, replace and install plant mechanical equipment including, centrifugal pumps, gearboxes, fans, valves, actuators, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, compressors, pressure filters and cranes and carpentry. Rigging: Proper use of hand signals, operation of equipment and selection of lifting equipment. Welding and Burning: Safety, theory and techniques of arc welding, gas welding, tig welding, and gas cutting. Lubrication and Preventive Maintenance Inspections: Familiarization with lubrication products, specific applications, replacement and disposal. Layout and Alignment: Perform layouts, alignments and fabrications using blueprints, and the related tools required. Cell Room / Electrolyzer Repair: Rebuild, repair, test and install chlorine electrolyzers. Repair and replace valves, piping and gaskets on cell room production equipment.

Entrance requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age. High School Graduate with a 2.0 GPA or have a GED of at least 255 points. Completion of one full year of high school algebra with a grade of “C” or 5 credits of college level algebra with at least a “C” grade. Must provide official transcript from high school and/or college. Physically able to do the work of the trade. Current Axiall Corporation employees who have completed their 90 day probationary period.
