Program description
Familiarization: Tools of the trade, safety practices, storeroom, electrical codes, miscellaneous. Shop Work: Service and repair of equipment, layout and wiring of panel boards, tool room, scrapping and cleanup, miscellaneous. General Plant: Placement of conduit and wire; installation of conduit, tray, and wire; installation and repair of lighting; installation and repair of motor and control equipment; testing and troubleshooting of electrical equipment; rigging; movement and placement of equipment; familiarization with electrical equipment and materials. Preventative Maintenance: Cleaning and greasing of electrical equipment; testing of electrical equipment, maintenance records, miscellaneous. Rectifier and Substation: Rectifier maintenance, transformer and high voltage maintenance. Instrumentation and Metering: Use and care of meters and instruments, calibration and repair of meters and instruments, installation and repair of equipment, preventative maintenance of meters and instruments and valves. Mill Processes and Controls: General plant operations knowledge, knowledge of process control strategy, understanding of various mill processes and troubleshooting PLCs and SCADA systems.

Must be at least 18 years of age. High School Graduate with a 2.0 GPA or have a GED of at least 255 points. Completion of one full year of high school algebra with a grade of “C” or 5 credits of college level algebra with at least a “C” grade. Must provide official transcript from high school and/or college. Physically able to do the work of the trade. Current Axiall Corporation employees who have completed their 90 day probationary period.
